A Case On Satoshi’s Identity To Begin in the UK

An Australian computer scientist claims he is the mythical Satoshi Nakamoto, the founder of Bitcoin.

And now, this sensational claim will be challenged in the United Kingdom on Monday, with Jack Dorsey supporting it.

Craig Wright insists he is Satoshi Nakamoto

The scientist, Craig Wright has for years insisted that he is the real Satoshi Nakamoto, the faceless figure who published the 2008 whitepaper that led to the birth of the first cryptocurrency in history, Bitcoin.

However, the man has so far failed to produce any tangible evidence that he is, indeed, Satoshi Nakamoto. This has led to skepticism and criticism from within the digital coin community, and several cases since he first made the claims.

This latest case in the UK, is between the 53-year-old computer expert, and the Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA). COPA’s members include Block, the payment company owned by former Twitter supremo, Jack Dorsey.

In the case, the organization is seeking a “negative declaration” ruling from the London high court, barring Wright from telling the world that he is Satoshi Nakamoto.

The real Satoshi would have a special access code

According to a spokesperson from the crypto organization, a ruling in their favor would “conclusively show that Dr. Wright is not Satoshi Nakamoto…” Wright has been threatening people attempting to carry out projects related to Bitcoin.

Reports say that last month, Wright approached COPA in an effort to settle the case out of court. His approach was summarily rejected.

In order to prove that he is the real Bitcoin founder, the Australian computer man would have to provide the private keys. The private keys are a secure code that can be used to gain access to the 1.1 Bitcoins that were mined by Satoshi. In the current price range, the coins are approximately worth $830 billion.

COPA said they turned down the settlement offer because it had loopholes that would allow the self-proclaimed Satoshi to start suing people again.
